POLICE seized two quad bikes stolen from the RNLI in a raid on a Merseyside garage.
Three Yamaha quad bikes and a Honda 500 quad, used by lifeguards for their beach safety patrols, worth £24,000 were stolen from the charity’s Formby headquarters last week.
Officers executed a search warrant at a garage in Lees Road, Knowsley Industrial Estate, on Monday and recovered two of the bikes.
Detectives said they were committed to finding the other two bikes, which put rescues on Southport and Ainsdale beach at risk if they are not replaced.
The two bikes that have not been recovered are described as Red Yamaha 350cc “Grizzly's”.
Both bikes have black boxes on the front and gold wheels. The registrations are LF59 XWR and LF59 XWT.
