Friend Ann Williams, who had known Ms Rice for more than 25 years, said she would be sadly missed.

Mrs Williams said: “She was amazing. There was not a bad bone in her body, she was so kind and always smiling.

“Leah had worked so hard to get her life and her business to where they were, and it is just such a shock.”

Mrs Williams said Ms Rice “idolised” her daughter Jessica.

She said: “They were best friends. The whole family was extremely close and they did everything together.”

Ms Rice, who was in her early 40s, owned Leah Rice Lunches, a catering delivery firm which served businesses across Formby.
