THE Freshfield pub in Formby is blowing away the January blues with its second Real Ale Festival.
After the success of its “Freshie 50” in June, this one plans to be even bigger with 60 ales January 21-27.
The event will feature ales never seen before at the Freshie from breweries such as Leeds, Moorhouses, Boggarts, Saltaire and Liverpool Organic.
Liverpool Organics’ Imperial Russian Stout at an eye watering 7.9% is expected to be particularly popular.
Manager Steve Gregory said: “This is really exciting for us. People say that every day is like a beer festival here with our 14 handpumps, but with even more choice with an extra gravity bar, it will be even harder to decide what to try!”
The festival will be accompanied by the launch of a range of local hand-made pies as well as the regular menu.
“Me and My Cousin” will provide the entertainment on Thursday night.
On Sunday, customers will be asked to support local charity “Donna’s Dream” with a grand raffle and an acoustic set by local band Laid Back House Fire.
