On sunday December 9th a group of young people from Southport and Formby participated in a blindfolded abseil at Action Adventures in Liverpool.
National Citizen Service (NCS) is a scheme in which young people between the ages of 16-18 that partake in a residential and a citizen project. This helps enhance youths non-academic skills such as team building, leadership skills, perseverance and confidence. NCS decided to raise money for a local but nationwide charity, Daisy UK.
Daisy UK is involved in numerous projects including Merseyside Inclusive Sports Tournament. This tournament is for both disabled and non disabled young people to take part in a fun, competitive and level playing field sports event where young people can take part and experience empathy of the needs and skills of other disabilities.
NCS have raised £797.00 for Daisy UK from a blind abseil, in which Dave, the Director of Daisy UK, who is blind also completed alongside NCS members. There is still time for people to donate towards the groups efforts at www.justgiving.com/ncsblindfall.
