A TALENTED student is set to become one of the youngest-ever musical directors in London’s theatre scene.
Matthew Abrams, from Ainsdale, landed a job on the crew of musical I Do! I Do! at Hammersmith’s Riverside Studios.
The 20-year-old is one the youngest people ever to take on such a role, which involves managing every musical aspect of the show.
He said: “I was working on a production of Pirates Of Penzance, which was my first professional job, during the summer in Essex.
“The musical director was Ben Holder, who I had known of for a while, and he was originally offered the position of musical director for I Do! I Do! – but he was later offered another job which he could not turn down.
“He liked the work I had done on Pirates Of Penzance so very kindly asked me if I would take his place, which I very quickly said ‘yes’ to.
“I felt absolutely shocked to be asked. I had only worked with Ben for about a week, so I was really surprised but over the moon and could not wait to start.”
