AN INQUEST into the death of a man left brain damaged after an assault was adjourned.
Scott Sheard was 24 when he was punched to the ground, allegedly by a doorman, outside a Southport nightclub in October 2009.
The former Formby High pupil died of septicaemia in January after an emergency operation.
No-one has ever been prosecuted for the attack which left Scott unable to walk, talk or do anything for himself, after the Crown Prosecution Service decided not to take further action.
But after Scott’s death police agreed to re-visit the investigation.
Coroner Martin Fleming yesterday adjourned the inquest to a date to be fixed in early 2013, pending further information.
