Formby students bag interview with X Factor favourites Jedward

Formby student journalist Sophie Fairclough has bagged her first major exclusive - before she’s even finished her studies. Sophie and fellow Liverpool John Moores University student, Camilla Cole, secured a 20-minute chat with X-Factor heroes John and Edward (aka Jedward) while they were in Liverpool. The intrepid duo met up with the bequiffed Irish twosome in the city’s exclusive Malmaison hotel.

John & Edward: Yo Whats up, its John and Edward talking into the Dictaphone.

Sophie & Charlotte: Congratulations on your single, and reaching number 2 in the charts.

J&E: I know its craaazy; it all went really really fast, with the video and everything. It came out on download and then there was a really good response from the performance at the NTAs. So the download came out before the single and the video came out after the single. It got to number two just from downloads; the physical release only comes out today.

S&C: You received a better reception than Joe did at the NTAs...

J&E: I know, it was so fun we had Vanilla Ice there who’s an amazing guy. We were talking to him yesterday; we’re in all these amazing situations we never thought we’d be in. And now we’re performing at the echo arena in Liverpool which is absolutely crazy. I remember last time we came to Liverpool it was like an amazing show, it was one of them PA personal appearances, but like we performed six songs it was at the Liverpool College (sic). We loved it was the coolest show ever, the crowd was like crazy. It’s like just one of the shows you remember. All the fans we met there we met again at the concert last night they are all waiting outside the hotel. The first time when you meet them you learn their name and the second time you learn something about them.

S&C: What was Louis’ reaction to the single doing so well?

J&E: He’s saying that we need to get some more songs, and we need to get some more hits, and focus on our album and everything.

S&C: So can we expect an album?

J&E: Yeah, yeah, yeah. We want to do everything.

S&C: Are there any songs you would really like to sing on your album?

J&E: We need to get a really cool sound and a rebellious song. A song that no one has heard before. It has to be a really fun album because a fun album means a really fun show.

S&C: We were at the show last night; it was amazing, what was your favourite song to perform?

J&E: Ghostbusters! It’s so epic and iconic, the whole show everyone is just like on stage and then when me and John come out the, we are like at one with the audience, connecting with them flying over them in the air like Ghostbusters.
