FORMBY residents are being urged to consider volunteering in 2010 to give something back to the local community.
The chairperson and secretary of Macmillan Cancer Support’s Formby Committee are stepping down after two decades – and replacements are being sought.
The committee is integral to improving the lives of people living with cancer in the area.
Grace Higgins, Merseyside Fundraising Manager, said: “Our Formby committee has been established for many years, raising thousands of pounds for people affected by cancer.
“The current chairperson and secretary are stepping down feel that now is the time to hand over the reins to drive the committee forward in the coming year.
“We are looking to fill these roles with two local people who are excited by the prospect of creating new ideas to fundraise in Formby as well as raising awareness of Macmillan’s wonderful work in the area.”
Becoming a volunteer in Formby would mean that you could involve yourself with supermarket collections or organise fundraising events such as a bridge afternoons or a quiz night.
As the chairperson or secretary, you would be the face of Macmillan in the area.
Grace added: “We know there are lots of people in Formby who already support Macmillan.
“So if you have some spare time and would like to get involved we would love to hear from you.”
