FORMBY residents can pick up a free tree for their garden this year.
As part of National Tree Week they can get their hands on a free tree by visiting one of seven parks across the borough.
Goat Willow, Rowan, Silver Birch and Bird Cherry are some of the species.
Sefton Council’s Tree and Woodland Team will be distributing the trees on a first come first served basis.
People can pick them up from Saturday, November 28, to Sunday, December 6.
More than 1,500 trees will be given away as part of the Sefton scheme, which is in its fifth year.
National Tree Week is the largest tree celebration in the UK and runs from Wednesday, November 25 to Sunday, December 6.
Cllr Lord Ronnie Fearn, cabinet member Tourism and Leisure, said: “We will be offering residents the chance to take their pick of tree saplings from four different species.
“The start of winter is the perfect time to plant a sapling, so just come along to one of the seven park’s across the borough and pick one up.
“Trees bring a host of benefits to local residents as visually they are very pleasing, environmentally they are good for the planet and planting them encourages a healthy living lifestyle.”
There will be park rangers and officers from Sefton’s Tree and Woodland Team available to offer advice on planting and looking after the trees.
