PEOPLE in Formby are being encouraged to consider adopting or fostering children in the borough.
A new campaign is to be launched next week to recruit parents who may be able to help look after children waiting for new families.
Currently there is a particular need for caring families for under 10-year-olds and those who have siblings who need to stay together.
Dina Nixon, of Sefton’s Children's Services, said: "If you are over 21 you can be considered as a suitable carer for a few days, weeks or until the child reaches independence.
"Fostering or adopting is very rewarding and can really help the development of a child who has no traditional family life.
“Most of our children find themselves in a difficult situation through no fault of their own and would really welcome a stable home."
To foster or adopt you need to be over 21, have a spare room and an understanding of children and young people. Sexuality is not considered as an issue for people wanting to become adoptive or foster parents.
There is an open day on Tuesday (November 10) at Ellesmere House, Crosby Road North, Waterloo between 12pm and 5pm. Call 0151 285 5019 for details
