Formby Village spruced up to attract business

A £50,000 scheme to improve Formby village has been brought to fruition.

The final phase of a three-year plan to spruce up the village is almost complete.

Funded by Formby Parish Council and Formby Area Committee, it aimed at driving customers back into the shopping centre.

The Chapel Lane Improvements scheme has included new planters, bollards and railings.

The final phase, which is near completion, a year earlier than planned has included new railings in Three Tuns Lane and around the war memorial.

Plants have also been put in around the memorial gardens.

It has also led to other work being carried out in the village, such as bulb planting around Formby Pool.

The parish council also worked with schools on improving the village, funded the refurbishment of benches, replaced broken seats.
