The Vulcan aircraft soars above the crowds at the Southport Airshow _460
Dennis Wright, at the show with partner Caroline Lloyd and friends Trevor and Kathryn Carter as well as four young children, said: “We were really looking forward to the Red Arrows, which were amazing. and the Typhoon was good as well.”
Taxi driver Tom Dawson, from Burscough, said: “I came with my wife and we brought by friend David. We come every year. David was an ex-pilot, so he was looking forward to seeing all the aircraft.
“It was £29 for the three of us, but I think it’s worth it.”
The air show has only recently charged people to get in and not everyone was happy with the price.
Yogish Shahade, from Warrington, was at the show with two friends.
He said: “It’s a bit costly. It was £29 for all of us, with a car, and I think £8 is too much.
“We’re still looking forward to it though, especially the Red Arrows.”
Peter Sandman, of the Sefton events team, said: “As an early estimate we think we had between 80,000 – 90,000 visitors.
“I’ve personally never known anything like it and I’ve been doing it for five years.
“It must be the Vulcan effect.”
