Desmond Billing offers his fourth Thought for the Week. He is a member and parishioner of Our Lady of Victories RC Church, Hightown, where he has lived since 1956. As a Minister of the Word he reads the Lesson at Mass in accordance with current liturgical practice. Desmond, born in Liverpool, moved to Tyneside as a young boy of seven, subsequently moving to Glasgow University before returning to Liverpool in 1955 to join J Bibby & Sons. He joined the Central Oil Company in 1967 eventually becoming its managing director.Read
