TODAY I am thinking of my nephew, Simon. He is now 49 years old and often in my thoughts. When he was 19, Simon was diagnosed with a particularly aggressive form of MS. For the last 25 years he has been confined to his bed unable to function physically at even the most basic level and needing constant medical attention to stay alive.Read
Thoughts for the Week for June are offered by the late Allan Waplington, of St Luke’s. So typical of Allan: when I invited him to contribute June’s Thought for the Week he let me have them almost immediately so I wouldn’t have to worry about not getting them in time. I offer them as a tribute and memento to Allan. This one relates to where he was born and spent his formative years and to which he had returned for a birthday party with his grand-daughter (and family), who shared the same birthday with him, the weekend he died.Read
IT WAS with a deep sense of great shock and loss that I heard Allan had unexpectedly and suddenly died. He will be sorely missed by many, many people for a very long time, not only by his family and at St Luke’s Church but far more widely.Read
