FORMBY Junior sports Club under-9s White reached the final of the Jim Rourke Trophy after a nail biting game against Birkdale Falcons.
Man of the match Owen Highton opened the scoring for FJSC but an equalising goal from Birkdale took the match to extra time and then penalties. Goalkeeper Euan Smith scored the penalty which saw FJSC win the shoot out 5-4.
Captain for the day Conor Dewhurst led by example ina very good all round team performance.
The under-7s drew 4-4 at Southport Trinity with Michael O’Neill, Joe Blanchard and MoM Daniel Griffin on the scoresheet.
FJSC under-10s Black were held to a goalless draw at Town Green Pumas.
The result extends the under-10s’ unbeaten run to five matches. Ryan Smith and his brother Andrew were both MoM.
An excellent display by the under-11s Black was not quite enough as the team lost 2-0 to second placed Great Crosby. MoM was Joe Gallen. Steven Dolan in attack and right back Ben McKittrick both played well.
A 2-0 down to Billinge, title contenders FJSC under-14s Black salvaged a point in a 2-2 draw.
Kyle Rawcliffe was the hero scoring with a well taken penaltry and then from a Rawcliffe long throw a defensive Billinge mix up saw the ball cross the goalline. Seconds later the final whistle was blown.
A Jordan Currie hat-trick gave the Blues a 3-2 win over the Reds (Arthur Weights and Gabriel McPartland) in the Reception section.
In the Year One age group Eagles (Harry Rimmer 3, Paul Lally, Kadin Shamsee and Fraser Swift) recorded a 6-4 win over Robins (Luke Plunkett, Thomas Humphreys, Joe Forshaw and Lewis Murphy).
Hawks (Ben Holl 4, Matthew Gray 4, Callum Sandle 3) beat Kestrels (Jack Taylor 2, Alex McDermott).
In round two of the Year Two Division Cup, Lions (Daniel Griffin) drew 1-1 with Tigers (Joe Johnson), Leopards (Jack McDermott 2, Joe Rigby), narrowly won 3-2 against Panthers (Joel Swift, Adam Gladwin) in a very exciting match.
Purples (Callum McLeod 4, Anthony Howe) drew 5-5 with Reds (Anna Rutherford 2, Fintan Meehan 2, Daniel Clark) in the Year Three section.
