Redgate Rovers were beaten by Town Green at the weekend
A DISASTROUS last 10 minutes for the Yellows gave their visitors a flattering result.
Town Green, always known for their footballing talents, were two up at half time through the sheer 'muscle' of their attack than anything else.
On occasion, neat football from the Yellows threatened to break Town Green down it was just that final third of the field Yellows were outnumbered and failed to create a clear chance. With 10 mintues left Town Green broke down the right and a speculative cross looped over keeper Stephen Zeiderman and bounced in off the far post to put them out of sight, from that point Yellows heads dropped and Town Green took full advantage wrapping up the game with another 3 quick goals.
Redgate Rovers U-13s 3 - Birkdale U-13s 1
ROVERS rattled off a seventh straight league win – and have now firmly targeted a third place finish.
And they did it the hard way, coming from behind to show character and spirit to triumph 3-1.
Birkdale caught the home side cold with a stunning 35-yard thunderbolt, but Redgate man of the match Joe Harper continued to use the ball intelligently creating a host of chances for Phil Redmond and Jake Clarke.
Then on 24 minutes Darragh Hall scored a deserved equaliser, cleverly looping the ball over the stranded Birkdale keeper from eight yards.
Redgate rode their luck for five minutes with Birkdale pushing hard for a goal, then Phil Redmond took charge.
He showed composure and balance to weave his way past three Birkdale players before hammering the ball home.
Rovers led at the break, and with the wind at their backs started strongly. Harry Atherton and Jordan Reais worked well to put pressure on the Birkdale goal and Harry Parsons showed good strength to turn the Birkdale defence.
The deciding moment came when Will 'Rocky' Gardiner was played in by a quick throw from Steven Tickle, rounded two Birkdale players and hit another looping shot over the Birkdale keeper.
